Daytime talk show host Sherri Shepherd is speaking out—and asking for patience—after news broke this week that her self-titled talk show, Sherri, has been canceled after four seasons.
Fans were shocked by reports that the popular daytime program would end its run in the fall of 2026. Social media immediately lit up with questions, concerns, and an outpouring of support for the Emmy-winning host.
However, Shepherd herself has been noticeably absent from the airwaves this week, leading to even more speculation. Now, she has taken to social media to clear the air and explain her silence.
Recovering from COVID
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Shepherd revealed that she has been battling COVID-19, which has kept her away from the studio during this tumultuous week.
“Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me,” Shepherd wrote to her followers. “Well, it turns out I have Covid.”
She went on to assure her “Sherri Fam” that she isn’t dodging the headlines. “As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out,” she promised.
The End of an Era
The cancellation news was confirmed earlier this week by Debmar-Mercury, the production company behind the show. In a statement, co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus cited the “evolving daytime television landscape” as the reason for the decision, emphasizing that it was not a reflection of Shepherd’s talent or the show’s creative momentum.
Sherri launched in September 2022, filling the void left by The Wendy Williams Show, and quickly found its own rhythm with Shepherd’s high-energy humor and relatable personality.
While the show is set to conclude later this year, Shepherd’s promise to “address all the news” suggests she plans to go out on her own terms—with the honesty and laughter her fans have come to love.
We are praying for a speedy recovery for Sherri and look forward to her return to the show!
