Prophet Brian Carn Sentenced to Nine Months in Federal Prison for Tax Fraud
By iPraiseRadio.com Staff
Jacksonville minister “Prophet” Brian Carn Jr. has officially been sentenced to nine months in federal prison for tax fraud. The sentencing, handed down in federal court on April 30, 2026, concludes a case that has drawn significant attention to the prominent religious leader’s financial dealings
The Sentencing and Charges
Carn, 37, the founder and pastor of Kingdom City Church and leader of Brian Carn Ministries and Healing House Ministries, was sentenced after pleading guilty earlier this year to obstructing the Internal Revenue Service’s efforts to collect his tax debts
While the charge carried a statutory maximum sentence of three years in prison, and prosecutors had recently recommended a term of 18 to 24 months, the judge ultimately sentenced Carn to nine months behind bars
The Scheme to Obstruct the IRS
The charges stem from Carn’s 2015 tax return, which he filed in 2016. At that time, he accurately reported earning more than $1.4 million in income and owing over $600,000 in taxes
When the IRS attempted to collect the unpaid taxes by placing liens on his properties and levying his bank accounts, Carn took drastic measures. Court documents reveal that he attempted to amend his 2015 tax return by falsely removing approximately $1.3 million in previously reported income
To accomplish this, prosecutors stated that Carn hired a new accountant and provided them with a fictitious, backdated employment agreement claiming he was merely a ministry employee with an annual salary of $120,000 and a $24,000 parsonage allowance
Furthermore, while the IRS was actively trying to collect the back taxes, Carn made a series of false statements and material omissions to conceal his assets and income. The DOJ estimates that Carn’s obstruction caused a loss to the United States government of between $550,000 and $1.5 million
Taking Responsibility
Carn publicly admitted to the charges during a social media livestream shortly after his guilty plea in January, stating, “Yes, I pled guilty.” He told his followers, “I’m not here to justify myself or minimize anything that’s going on. I am here to take responsibility”
With the nine-month sentence now officially handed down, the self-styled prophet will face the consequences of his financial obstruction. iPraiseRadio.com will continue to provide updates on any further developments regarding his ministry and congregation during his incarceration.4 sources
