Stellar Award-winning and Dove Award-nominated artist Jonathan Nelson has signed a new recording contract with Tyscot Records’ Tyscot Worship imprint, marking an exciting new chapter for both the artist and the historic label .

The signing comes as Tyscot Records—the world’s oldest-operating African American-owned gospel label—prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary . But according to Tyscot Records President Bryant Scott, this collaboration has been a long time coming.

“Jonathan and I started this conversation years ago while riding in a van on a Caribbean island,” Scott revealed. “We didn’t force it, and it always amazes me how God brings things to fruition in His timing. I am honored to have Tyscot Worship partner with Jonathan Nelson Enterprises to produce music that glorifies God and edifies the Church” .

Jonathan Nelson is widely recognized for shaping the modern praise and worship sound . With over 227 million digital streams to his credit, Nelson has been a prominent figure in gospel music for nearly two decades .

The worship leader is best known for powerful singalong anthems like “My Name is Victory” and “I Believe (Island Medley)” that have become staples in churches worldwide . His song “Healed,” recorded by Donald Lawrence, became a Top Ten gospel radio hit and introduced his songwriting prowess to a wider audience .

Currently serving as Director of Worship and Arts at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Nelson has spent much of his career working closely with churches, choirs, and other gospel music leaders .
