A powerful message from Bishop Paul S. Morton is making waves across social media this week, as the respected faith leader released a viral video addressing a deeply controversial moment intersecting faith and politics. Bishop Morton did not hold back, issuing a stern rebuke of an AI-generated image depicting former President Donald Trump as a Jesus-like figure, while also calling out White House faith adviser Paula White-Cain for her recent remarks.

The controversy began when Paula White-Cain, during a private Easter gathering, drew a direct parallel between Jesus Christ and Donald Trump. In her speech, she claimed that both Jesus and Trump were “betrayed, arrested, and falsely accused” +1. Shortly after, an AI-generated image was posted to Trump’s Truth Social account, depicting the former president draped in robes, surrounded by divine light, and seemingly healing a sick man +1.

The image, which Trump later deleted while claiming it was meant to portray him as a “doctor making people better” , sparked immediate outrage across the Christian community.

In his viral video response, Bishop Paul S. Morton condemned the image as outright blasphemous. He argued passionately that reducing sacred Christian symbols and the divine healing power of Christ to mere political propaganda is a dangerous line to cross.

Bishop Morton also directed sharp criticism toward Paula White-Cain, suggesting that her willingness to liken a political figure to the Savior paved the way for such a controversial and offensive portrayal. He warned that exploiting religious imagery and the sacred narrative of the Gospel for partisan ends severely damages the credibility of the church and its witness to the world.

Calling on believers to remain spiritually discerning, Bishop Morton urged the Christian community to reject any form of “messianic” self-promotion by political leaders. His message serves as a sobering reminder to the body of Christ: our ultimate allegiance and reverence belong to Jesus Christ alone, and His holy name should never be used as a political prop.
