Gospel music royalty is on the mend and ready to return to what she does best—ministering through song and spirit. Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole, affectionately known as “The Rose of Gospel,” is celebrating a successful recovery from major knee surgery and has announced her first planned return to the stage, marking a powerful testimony of faith, healing, and the sustaining power of prayer .

A Season of Recovery

On Tuesday, January 21, 2026, the legendary gospel singer and pastor took to Instagram to share the good news with her millions of fans worldwide.

“Thank you all for your prayers and support. My surgery was a success, and I’m resting as much as possible,” Dr. Cole wrote in her heartfelt post. “I’ll try to get back to each of you individually who called and texted today—please give me a few days. Allow me to be human and let my body recover. I love you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart! My family is taking good care of me” +1.

The post, which received over 11,000 likes and thousands of comments, was a testament to the deep love and respect the gospel community has for the Clark Sisters member, who has been a pillar in gospel music for over four decades.

According to her team’s statement released on January 22, Dr. Cole underwent major knee surgery and was home recovering with the full support of her loving family . While the surgery was described as “major,” sources close to the family confirmed that the procedure was successful and that Dr. Cole’s prognosis for full recovery is excellent.

A Grateful Heart

Throughout the recovery process, Dr. Cole has remained connected with her fans through social media, sharing updates and expressing gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers. The response from the gospel community has been overwhelming, with fellow artists, pastors, and fans flooding her posts with messages of encouragement and declarations of healing.

“Take all the time you need and don’t feel guilty or pressured to return to working. This is your time to rest, heal, and commune with God,” one supporter wrote in the comments .

Another fan expressed the sentiment felt by many: “Rest Song Bird. But after you fully recover we need another toe tapper” —a reference to Dr. Cole’s legendary ability to deliver powerful, foot-stomping gospel music that moves audiences to their feet.

The Triumphant Return

While Dr. Cole has been focused on rest and recovery, she has already begun looking ahead to her return to ministry. In a recent social media post that sent fans into excitement, she announced: “Y’all, this will be my first performance after surgery, and I get to hit the stage with my incredible family and some of the biggest names in gospel music” +1.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in her recovery journey and promises to be an emotional and powerful moment for both the singer and her legion of devoted followers.

Holy Women in Red 2026

One of Dr. Cole’s first confirmed post-surgery appearances will be at the highly anticipated “Holy Women in Red 2026” event, scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 6:30 PM at Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ (19190 Schaefer Hwy, Detroit, MI 48235) .

The event, which has become an annual tradition, is a powerful night of worship, healing, and breakthrough specifically designed for women of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Cole will be joined by her sister, First Lady Karen Clark Sheard, for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of ministry.

“Ladies, it’s that time again! Get your RED dress ready and meet us in the house of the Lord for a powerful night of worship, healing, and breakthrough!” Dr. Cole wrote in her announcement. “Our First Lady @karenclarksheard and I will be looking forward to seeing you there!”

The event will also feature:

  • Guest Speaker: Dr. Tonyan Schoefield
  • Health & Vendor Fair: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Evening Service: 6:30 PM

“Thank you to my pastor @bishopdrewsheard for allowing the women to have our special day!” Dr. Cole added, expressing gratitude to her spiritual covering at Greater Emmanuel COGIC .

The Dorinda Show Continues

Even during her recovery, Dr. Cole has remained active in ministry through her television program, “The Dorinda Show,” which airs on the TCT Network. The February 2026 lineup features special guest appearances from various gospel artists and continues to inspire viewers with powerful messages of faith, hope, and encouragement .

The show has become a beloved platform where Dr. Cole not only showcases emerging talent but also shares her wisdom, experience, and testimony with a national audience. True to form, even while recovering, she has continued to mentor and uplift the next generation of gospel artists through the program.

A Testament to Faith and Resilience

Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole’s journey through surgery and recovery serves as a powerful reminder that even our most celebrated spiritual leaders are human and need the prayers and support of the body of Christ. Her transparency about her need for rest and healing has been both refreshing and inspiring, demonstrating the importance of self-care and allowing others to minister to us during difficult seasons.

As the eldest daughter of the legendary Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and a member of the iconic Clark Sisters, Dorinda has spent her life ministering to millions through songs like “I’m Still Here,” “Nobody But You Lord,” “Take It Back,” and countless other gospel classics. Her powerful voice, anointed preaching, and genuine heart for ministry have made her one of the most beloved figures in gospel music.

Now, as she prepares to return to the stage, there’s a sense of anticipation and expectation in the air. Her comeback is more than just a return to performance—it’s a living testimony of God’s healing power, the effectiveness of prayer, and the resilience of faith.

An Invitation to Witness the Comeback

Fans who want to be part of Dr. Cole’s triumphant return to ministry are encouraged to mark their calendars for the Holy Women in Red 2026 event on February 22. The evening promises to be a powerful celebration of healing, breakthrough, and the sustaining grace of God.

For those unable to attend in person, Dr. Cole continues to minister through The Dorinda Show on TCT Network and maintains an active presence on social media, where she regularly shares encouragement, teaching, and updates with her global audience.

A Word from The Rose

In characteristic fashion, Dr. Cole has turned her season of recovery into a moment of ministry, reminding her followers about the importance of rest, family support, and trusting God through every season of life.

“Allow me to be human,” she wrote—a simple but profound statement that reminds us all that even our spiritual giants need grace, rest, and the space to heal .

As Psalm 30:2-3 declares: “O Lord my God, I cried out to You, and You healed me. O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.”

Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole is living proof of this scripture, and her upcoming return to the stage will be a celebration not just of her healing, but of God’s faithfulness to sustain, restore, and renew those who trust in Him.
